Shaun O’Toole and Sherman Yeo provided the arms and Ryan Owens brought the lumber as the the Alpines swept the first place Charlottetown Islanders in a double-header played at Memorial Field this afternoon, by scores of 6-1 and 4-3.

In the first game Yeo allowed only two hits, four walks and fanned seven in leading the home team to a 6-1 win.  Import Owens continued to swing a hot bat going 3 for 3 while driving in a pair.  Owens was it again in the second game getting the big hit when it was needed.  With the Alpines trailing 3-2 and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th Owens ripped a 1-1 pitch for single that scored Mark Legere and Adam Clark, with Clark just beating the tag at home plate on a close play.  O’Toole allowed only one earned run, five hits, one base on balls and struck out five for his first win of the season.  Yeo’s record now stands at 2-2 and O’Toole owns a 1-1 mark.

The pair of victories makes it four in a row for the Alpines, improving to 6-7 and moves the team into fourth spot – half a game ahead of the Chatham Ironmen and only half a game behind the Moncton Fisher Cats and Fredericton Royals for second place.  The team travels to the Charlottetown tomorrow for a pair in a rematch with the Islanders.
